"My work finds itself at home in a church. Mosaic art has long been found in places of worship. My relationship with church architecture and art goes back to childhood. Unlike the the stained glass, icons, and sculpture found in my friends' houses of worship, my family's church was plain. The windows were transparent; the mullions arranged in a grid. While I'm quite fond of Islamic tile or the sparkling tesserae adorning a nymphaeum, I'm drawn back to those clear windows I gazed up at as a child. The light playing off the facets and the interstices between the shapes, are what captivate me."
