The mathematical idea behind the piece is straightforward: Rotate 4 squares, which are diagonally divided between light and dark. Arrange these to make a larger square. Now copy this arrangement and rotate it clockwise 90 degrees and adjoin to the right of the first square to make a rectangle. Now copy the entire arrangement and rotate it clockwise 180 degrees and adjoin to the bottom of the upper rectangle to make a larger square. Plot all 256 possible outcomes and stitch together. Hand-cut, machine stitched & quilted bed sheets, muslin and found fabric.
